Join Us in Building Sustainability
Welcome to the Student Union for Sustainable Development (SUSD)! We are the main sustainability pre-professional organization built by and for Columbia University undergraduates.
Our goal is to help students explore different areas and find their niche within climate & sustainability. We host events introducing a variety of topics, build a community of driven peers, and connect and amplify climate resources across Columbia.
About
SUSD empowers undergraduates interested in pursuing careers in environmental policy, impact investing, renewable energy, conservation, climate research, water management and much more.
Our mission is to strengthen the connection between students and Columbia's sustainability resources, offer academic support and professional development opportunities, and foster a strong sense of community.
Professional Development
The Professional Development Committee helps Columbia students interested in sustainability develop professional networks and start building their careers. We bring in leading professionals and recent graduates for networking events and panels to learn about their expertise and path. Previous guests have included executives from Morgan Stanley and Closed Loop, NYC city planners, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory researchers and Earthjustice lawyers. Additionally, we run workshops on resumes, CVs, and job searching so SUSD members can build necessary skills to enter their chosen field.
